The Cirrus was a wooden fishing trawler which caught fire off Motiti circa 1950s. An attempt was made to get to the Tauranga harbour but the vessel went down in 34 meters of water on flat sand North of the entrance. The only remains are a winch drum with a tight bundle of net some ballast blocks and small steal items. The site is small so can be hard to locate but is worth a look if the visibility is ok.
